Coach Dom’s Story…

Coach Dom Narcisco was an essential part of the Somers School District of Westchester County for 18 years, as a physical education teacher and coach. However, his leadership legacy begins even before anyone in Somers ever met him.

Dominic Narcisco’s athletic talents were first recognized from his alma mater, Tappan Zee High School, when he was recognized as Athlete of the Year in 1999. As captain of his football team, basketball team, and baseball team, it was clear that Dom had leadership qualities that boosted moral and created unity and brotherhood amongst all players.

Dom then attended SUNY Cortland where he went on to play football all four years and was recognized as a one-of-a-kind player and person. Dom then went on to student-teach in the Suffern School District where his true love of coaching and teaching the next generation took roots.

Dom’s fun-loving yet determined personality infiltrated its way into the gymnasiums, the hallways, the classrooms and the fields of Rockland & Westchester County. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that Dom also coached boys basketball at The Harvey School in Katonah for several years.

Coach Dom did more than just teach and coach, he inspired, he motivated and he led. Dom saw his students and athletes for the people they are and brought out the best in each and every one of them. Dom shared a belief he carried in his heart on a daily basis, Faith over Fear, and it’s apparent that countless members of these communities now carry that same belief with them as they remember Coach Dom and the memories shared with him.
